Welcoming In Summer With Interior Ideas

The sun is here at long last, and it’s time to get into the summertime groove for many of us in the UK. Despite the sun streaming in through the windows and the smell of fresh cut grass wafting across our noses, after such a long and gloomy winter it can be hard to truly shake those drab cobwebs from our homes.

Thankfully, with a bit of clever interior design, we all have the opportunity to give our homes a fresh look and a more welcoming feel without needing to redecorate the whole thing. Here are some of the quickest and easiest ways to bring a touch of summer sun to your home, today.

1. Bring in the colours
Summer is all about colour. Bold blooms in the garden, ladies with their bright summer frocks on and the world simply glowing in the vivid sunlight helps to chase away all the dark greyness of the winter months. Do the same for your home by giving it a lick of paint in a warm, summery tone to brighten things up.
Choose primrose yellow for living areas, to make it warm yet still clean and light. Bathrooms can be a bit more adventurous, with the potential for turquoises, pinks and even deep purples adding a touch of lux to the space. If you don’t fancy painting walls, then adding some throws, cushions, curtains or a tablecloth in summer colours can help lift and revive a room.

2. Create space and light
In interior design the words ‘light and airy’ are almost something of a cliché, but in creating a summer vibe in your home they are as relevant as they ever were. Space and light are the best ways to create a sense of bright summer sun and fresh air in the home, but this is not always easy with many of us struggling for space.
If you want to create a minimal, airy space at home but feel you have too much clutter, putting some items into storage for the summer months can be a real lifesaver. Many of the house removals London companies will be able to help shifting big pieces of furniture or boxes of belongings into storage, giving you more room to breathe and a more pleasant home.

3. Love summer flowers
Summer flowers can do more than just brighten up a room. Choosing fresh flowers with a heady scent for your home, such as jasmine, freesias, lilies or scented roses can help create an unbeatable ambiance in the home by stimulating multiple senses and creating a truly summery feeling.
Echo the effects of fresh flowers by choosing complementary soft furnishings and accessories in the home, and by keeping everything fresh, cool and laid back. Introduce some floral designs to your room with flower based wall art, throws or cushion covers and instantly your home will seem more summery.

Have a great weekend!
